Jungfrau Railways: if a guest needs a mask, they’ll get one

The Jungfrau Railways excursion destinations have been accessible again for three weeks. Initial experiences have shown that very few passengers are wearing protective masks if the distance of one and a half metres cannot be maintained. That’s why Jungfrau Railways will be proactively handing out masks over the coming weeks.

The relevant Covid-19 protection concepts are in place everywhere on the Jungfrau Railways network, in mountain restaurants and shops. For the railways, the measures regarding hygiene and distancing are based on those for public transport.

If the distance of one and a half metres cannot be maintained on the railways, the wearing of masks is strongly recommended. The guest is expected to have a mask for such situations. Previously, if you did not have a mask, you could buy one at Jungfrau Railway stations at cost price. Since it can suddenly get crowded on trains and, unfortunately, the majority of the guests often do not have a mask on them to wear spontaneously, a mask for the train journey will be given out free of charge and proactively at the ticket counter, even on the platforms during busy periods. Jungfrau Railways expects them to be used.

Jungfrau Railways staff, who are in direct customer contact and are not protected by a plexiglass screen or similar device, protect guests by wearing masks. Through various posters, announcements and notices, visitors will continue to be made aware of the correct behaviour.

In addition, when visiting Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe, it is strongly recommended to make use of the option of reserving individual seats on the Jungfrau Railway between Kleine Scheidegg and Jungfraujoch. This will lead to a better distribution of passengers on the existing trains and makes it possible to enjoy the trip to the Jungfraujoch in an even more relaxed way.
