With the direct access to Interlaken Ost railway station from the west for the guests coming from the centre of Interlaken, quality for customers has been significantly increased. The implementation also took into account the BehiG regulations. Now, in addition to platform 2 of the Bernese Oberland Railway (BOB), platforms 1 and 10 will also ensure disabled access and disembarkation. From 8 July 2019, work on the full raise will begin.

Track 1 of the BOB – in the same way as track 2 – will be able to accommodate 15-car trains over a length of 250 metres in the future. On track 10, an increase to 100 metres is sufficient.

No restrictions on rail traffic
Construction will last until 20 December 2019. There are no restrictions on rail traffic. Guest management will also undergo only slight adjustments. The new west entrance to the Interlaken Ost railway station can be used without restriction. Directly affected neighbours were informed about the project by BOB managers.

Area for car turning loop
In connection with the BehiG-compliant conversion of the platform system at the BOB, the area of tracks 11/12 was reconstructed along the existing car park at Interlaken Ost. BOB has provided the municipality of Interlaken with the vacated space for the implementation of a car turning loop with five boarding and alighting places for coaches. The municipality plans to complete this by September 2019.
